MXora Email Send Check

Importing sites from a CSV

Add or update many sites at once from a spreadsheet.

If you look after lots of sites, you can add them all at once from a CSV file instead of one by one. CSV import is included in the Agency plan, and takes up to 5,000 rows per file.

Importing

  1. Log in to EmailSendCheck.com and go to Email Checks and click Import CSV.
  2. Click Download example CSV file for a file with the right headings, or use your own spreadsheet saved as CSV.
  3. Upload the file. We match your column headings to ours automatically. Check the matches, change any that are wrong, and start the import.
  4. The import runs in the background. When it's finished you'll get a notification saying how many rows were imported. If any failed, download the failed rows to see why, fix them, and import that file again.

Each new site is connected as soon as it's imported, so be sure to install the plugin on the sites first, while their connection windows are open. If a window has closed, open it again in the plugin and click Retry connection. You can select many sites and retry them all at once.

Columns

Only the website address is required. Leave any other column out, or leave cells blank, to use the defaults. Your headings don't have to match ours exactly: common names like website or domain are matched automatically, and you can match the rest by hand before importing.

ColumnWhat to put in itIf blank
Website URL
url
The site's address, such as https://example.com or shop.example.co.uk/store. https:// is added if it's missing. Required
Active (Y/N)
is_active
Y to test the site, N to add it paused. Active
Check frequency
frequency
How often to test it, such as 4h, every 8 hours, 12, daily or weekly. See Schedules and timezones for which plans include which. Daily
Alerts (instant / daily summary)
alert_mode
instant or daily summary. See Instant alerts or a daily summary. Instant alerts
Email (Y/N)
notify_email
Y to send this site's alerts to this channel, N not to. On if the channel is set up on the Notifications page
Slack (Y/N)
notify_slack
Y to send this site's alerts to this channel, N not to. On if the channel is set up on the Notifications page
Webhook (Y/N)
notify_webhook
Y to send this site's alerts to this channel, N not to. On if the channel is set up on the Notifications page

Yes/no columns also accept Yes, No, 1, 0, true and false. Headings and values aren't case-sensitive.

Example

url,is_active,frequency,alert_mode,notify_email,notify_slack,notify_webhook
https://example.com,Y,daily,instant,Y,N,Y
shop.example.co.uk/store,Y,"every 8 hours","daily summary",Y,Y,N
https://blog.example.com,N,weekly,instant,N,Y,N
staging.example.org,,,,,,

The last row has only an address, so it gets the defaults.

Updating sites you've already added

A row whose address matches a site already in your account updates that site instead of adding it again. Blank cells never change anything, so you can import a list of addresses with one column filled in (say, Check frequency) to change just that, without reactivating paused sites or resetting their alerts.

Why a row might fail

  • The address isn't a valid public website address, or is longer than 255 characters.
  • A value isn't one we recognise, such as a frequency of monthly.
  • Adding the site would take you over your plan's site limit. Sites already in your account still update.
